Theme Implications of international policy frameworks
This theme analyses the role of international agreements and institutions in shaping national and local disaster risk reduction and adaptation policy processes and development planning.
Research questions:
How do international agreements and finance flows influence the development of local and national institutions and distribution of funds for adaptation, DRR and development?
How does the notion of climate justice and the principle of 'common but differentiated responsibilities', discussed at the international level, play out at the national and sub-national level in terms of influencing priorities and establishing governance arrangements to meet the climate and disaster risk reduction needs of the most vulnerable populations?
How do national and international actors and their experience / agendas shape national and local funding targets and mechanisms? What are the particular roles of donors and national governments?
